100% independent – 100% Braintree
A warm welcome to The Phoenix Braintree - we are proudly a new coffee – deli – bar situated in the heart of Braintree. The name inspiration came from the fondly-remembered Phoenix Café that stood for years in the centre of Market Place – we hope to bring a little taste of those
memories back with a twist.
We are equally delighted to be bringing back to Braintree a deli offering, as Braintree born & bred owners we spent many Saturday’s of our childhood savouring the smells from Bowtell’s. Our enticing deli range provides residents of Braintree the opportunity to truly shop local & enjoy the best the county has to offer. Get all you need for a night-in with fine cheeses, succulent meats, tasty sauces, sweet treats, oils, honey, jams & spreads. An enticing offering of the best food & drink that Essex (& the surrounding area) has to offer.
Whether you want ‘The Best of Essex breakfast’ which includes sausages & bacon from our near neighbours on Bank Street, Beaumont Butchers or fancy a home-made slice of cake accompanied by what we think will soon become the most popular coffee in Braintree from our suppliers, Primo Artisan Coffee, Colchester. If you are still looking for the perfect spot to enjoy a lunch with friends, family or colleagues look no further than The Essex Ploughman’s or our Phoenix sausage rolls. Why not try The Phoenix salt beef bagels alongside our delicious milkshakes, smoothies & extensive hot drink range.
Our menu reverts on a Friday & Saturday evening to provide via our bar an array of ‘made from scratch’ cocktails, local craft ales, wines, ciders & lagers from a variety of Essex suppliers including Bishop Nick (East Street, Braintree), Mersea Island Brewery, Peter Watts Wine (Coggeshall) & Big Bear Cider (Stisted) accompanied by our very moorish meats, cheese & bread boards.
As owners & staff we pride ourselves on providing a first-class experience whilst offering the best produce Essex has to offer at fair prices. We source our quality raw ingredients & items such as cups from suppliers who share our environmental concerns.
We want to make The Phoenix Braintree the go-to place for coffee, breakfast, lunch & evenings so why not pop in & visit?
Absolutely thrilled to be able to open the doors on Saturday 2nd July.
We hosted some Braintree VIP's on the day...
people with Braintree at their heart.
Left to right - Mike Bardell. Braintree historian & the man who knows everything there is to know about Braintree.
Shirley & David Bowtell - David & his family owned the famous deli shop & coffee place in first Bank Street, then the High Street.
Jenny & John Jemison - Owners of Phillers Cafe, which was the go to place for many a year.
All of these VIP's have supported our venture from the beginning & provided us with invaluable advice.
